KEEP DEKALB BEAUTIFUL TO HOST ELECTRONICS RECYCLING EVENT

Residents can recycle more than 30 different types of equipment

Keep DeKalb Beautiful (KDB) will offer residents of DeKalb County an opportunity to recycle their old electronic items properly and reduce the environmental liability of hazardous material entering DeKalb County’s Seminole Landfill. The county will host an electronics recycling event on Saturday, March 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, 3991 Snapfinger Road in Lithonia.

Each day, various types of consumer electronics are upgraded or thrown out in favor of technological advancements.  The U.S. alone generated an estimated 1.5 billion pounds of e-waste in 2006 alone. E-waste should not be considered “waste.” It is a resource. Useful materials such as glass, copper, aluminum, plastic, and other components can often be extracted and reused as E-waste.
