CONYERS, GA—The 45th Annual Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival returns to the Georgia International Horse Park on March 21—March 22.
This year’s theme, “Rooted Together,” honors the festival’s deep roots of friendship, culture, and shared legacy while also celebrating a major milestone: the 30th anniversary of the Georgia International Horse Park.
The vibrant weekend event is presented by Robins Financial Credit Union with signature sponsor Render Turner Lake.
Founded in 1982 as a celebration of cultural exchange and friendship between Conyers and Japan, the Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival has blossomed into one of the Southeast’s most anticipated spring traditions.
The festivities begin Saturday morning with the Running of the Torches, a ceremonial fun run for children that honors the enduring Olympic spirit of 1996.
This year’s event includes a special tribute to Tony Lucas, former Conyers city manager, who proudly carried the Olympic torch 30 years ago during the events held around metro Atlanta. A powerful reminder of the park’s Olympic legacy, the fun run takes place in the Grand Prix Stadium.
Children ages 6 and up are invited to participate with advance registration. Register here: https://shorturl.fm/DyuwH.
At noon on Saturday, Mayor Connie Alsobrook, council members and the Conyers Rockdale Council of the Arts will take the Main Stage for a special recognition honoring Rockdale County’s most gifted art students.
These young creatives have participated in a series of art initiatives throughout the year, culminating in this public celebration of their talent and dedication.
Across the festival grounds, visitors will discover vibrant, hand-painted trash bins transformed into colorful works of art by local students, businesses, and nonprofits. During the event, additional bins will be available for attendees to leave their mark by adding handprints — a collective symbol of unity and connection. Stop by the Rockdale County Chamber of Commerce tent to be part of this shared community project.
Leading up to festival weekend, the community can participate in several auxiliary events, including:
- Treasures in the Trees Scavenger Hunt
- Bubble Tea Student Poetry Contest
- Rockdale County Public Schools Student Photography Contest
- Sakura the Dragon mascot meet-and-greets.
During the festival weekend, additional sporting events will take place throughout the Horse Park, including:
- GQHA Cherry Blossom Speed Class
- Cherry Blossom Open at the Iron Hoof Disc Golf Course
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission is free, with $10 parking per vehicle. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the festival information booth for schedules, maps, and full program details.
