National Education 20/20 Foundation offers students free eye care, eyeglasses

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– Local students will receive free eye care and eyewear on Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the National Education 20/20 Foundation, Inc., 3030 Business Park Drive, Suite D in Norcross. The event, open to students ages 4 to 21, is co-sponsored by the National Education 20/20 Foundation Inc. and OcuPrep Staffing and Training Entrepreneur Center. It is designed to help students overcome visual impairment, an obstacle that could hinder their successful education.

The National Education 20/20 Foundation, Inc. has a history of helping Gwinnett County students. In 2019, the organization provided free eye exams and glasses to the Berkmar and Meadowcreek Cluster Schools. The organization’s mission is to provide low-cost eye care to improve children’s quality of health while educating and raising awareness of the importance of early visual impairment detection and treatment.

“We want to make our children’s dreams come true by addressing at least one health obstacle,” said John Marsh, the foundation’s board chairman. “If our children can’t see, not only is their physical vision impaired but so is their mental capacity and their prescriptions and outlook for themselves and their future,” Marsh added.

Eyecare screenings will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Students with broken glasses or eyewear prescriptions can benefit from this event and receive free glasses. Follow-up appointments and eyewear prescriptions will be offered after the screening. Students from OcuPrep Staffing and Training Solutions will assist in providing services.
