Rockdale County government officials said today that the renovation of its administration services parking lot has been extended. The re-opening was scheduled for May 8, however, because of multiple days of rain, the new completion date for the project is now May 29.
While the renovation is under way, officials said parking for the public is available across the street at the Courthouse or in Olde Town near the Whistle Post Tavern.
Also during construction, the Rockdale Water Resources (RWR) bill payment box will be relocated to the Human Resources/Board of Assessors office on the corner of Milstead and Pine Street at 961 Milstead Ave., beginning Tuesday, May 9. The bill payment box will relocate to the driveway that exits the Administrative Services Parking lot onto Main Street on May 29.
For customers needing to enter the Administrative Services building, signage has been posted directing them to enter the back door through the alleyway of the building. Rockdale Department of Transportation (RDOT) will pave the exit driveway up to the front door as soon as weather permits to allow customers front door access to the facility.
Upon completion, the parking lot will have seven new spaces, 16 additional spaces for the public and handicapped spaces closer to the front door of the Administrative Building. The project includes added greenspace and trees for beautification. The new parking lot will include:63 total spaces
- 22 spaces reserved for staff
- 38 spaces for the public
- 3 handicapped spaces
