Gwinnett County Police investigating homicide of 16-year-old male found on Paden Mill Trace

Update: Lawrenceville missing teen identified, suspect Dennis Calzadilla charged with murder

The victim has been identified as Jose Daniel Martinez, 16, of Lawrenceville. Authorities said he was found shot to death and have arrested a 20-year-old male suspect, Dennis Calzadilla, in connection with the murder.

Police issued the following report: At 1:05 p.m., on March 1, 2023, Martinez’s family called 911 to report Martinez as a missing person. Officers spoke with the family and found out that he had not returned home the previous night.

While on the scene, officers were notified that the teen’s possible last known location was 651 Paden Mill Trail.  Officers responded to that address and located Martinez deceased from a gunshot wound.  Homicide detectives canvassed the area and were able to develop leads that lead to the arrest of Dennis Calzadilla, 20, of Lilburn. Calzadilla has been charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA– The Gwinnett County Police  Department (GCPD)detectives are investigating a homicide at 651 Paden Mill Trace.

Detectives responded to a missing person call at 1:05 p.m. today and while searching the area, they located a 16-year-old male behind the house who had been shot to death.

Detectives were out interviewing witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. There is currently no suspect description, and the motive is not known at this time, Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle said in a statement.

The victim’s information is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
