DECATUR, GA— Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp recently allocated $10.3 million in grants for six parks in DeKalb County. A total of $6.1 million dollars will be awarded to DeKalb County District 3 for park improvement to three parks.
Those parks are as follows: • Gresham Park—$1.7 million for the installation of an LED system on eight athletic fields, replacement of the outdated football fieldhouse and batting cages. • N.H. Scott Park—$2.2 million for the reconstruction of the pool and bathhouse. • Truelove Park—$2.1 million for the renovation of athletic fields and concession building.
“I would like to thank Gov. Kemp for the awarded grant,” said District 3 Commissioner Larry Johnson. “Also, I am grateful to President Biden and his administration for making this possible through American Rescue Plan Act funds. It is so important to have spaces that promote wellness in our communities. The recent global pandemic proved that our parks were one of our greatest assets for our residents.”
Commissioner Johnson has been a strong proponent of having a clean and healthy community. “Where you live, learn, work, play, and worship should always have a space for physical activity, fellowship, and stress relief,” said Commissioner Johnson. “Now that we are no longer in a public health emergency for COVID-19, I am excited to see the community continuing to make use of our parks and trails.” For more information, contact Commissioner Larry Johnson’s office at 404-371-2425 or visit www.commissionerlarryjohnson.com.
