ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA—The premiere screening of “Driving Force,” produced by Antoine Allen Films, will be presented on Friday, July 21, 7 p.m., at the Church of New Beginnings, 3150 GA Highway in Conyers.
The church’s pastor, the Rev. Al Sadler, Sr. and his wife, Jean, lifelong residents of Conyers, have roles in the movie, which is being televised on tubi. Additionally, several scenes of the movie were filmed at their church, Rev. Sadler said.
The family movie is about a man who struggles with faith and forgiveness after a drunk driving accident takes the life of his young daughter.
Rev. Sadler said he was excited to have a role in the movie and so was his wife.
“We didn’t expect to have a role. We thought we would just be in the crowd,” said Rev. Sadler. “I’m in the scene where I’m ministering to the father who lost his child. I’m sharing how I lost my son 30-something years ago. My wife played the role where she was comforting the mother of the deceased child.”
Sadler said church members connected him with film director Antoine Allen, who was seeking a church that could be used to film the movie. Allen began working with Church of New Beginnings on Aug. 1, 2022 on the project, Rev. Sadler said.
“I learned a lot just being a part of the movie—how they shoot it and put certain scenes together. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” said Sadler. “Part of the sermon at the end is about a new beginning, which is the name of our church.
The screening at Church of New Beginnings is open to the public. Admission is free. Can’t make the screening? Watch “Driving Force” on tubi TV.
