GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– The National Council of Negro Women, Gwinnett Section will present its inaugural Gwinnett Black Family Reunion Jordan Park on Saturday, Aug. 12, noon to 5 p.m., at Rhodes Jordan Park, 100 E. Crogan St., Lawrenceville.
The event will feature business sponsors, community partners, and affiliate organizations within the area. Berean Christian Church – Gwinnett, Northside Hospital, and the Gwinnett County Community Outreach division have partnered with NCNW Gwinnett to bring this family fellowship event to residents of Gwinnett County.
The Black Family Reunion is Gwinnett NCNW’s first signature event. This event will have multiple activities for family members of all ages. A DJ, family friendly games, food, and prizes will be given away at the free event. The event, which will be held at three pavilions at hodes Jordan Park, will take place rain or shine.
Families are encouraged to bring their tents, lawn chairs, blankets, and food baskets to relax in the open green area or shaded pavilion while taking in the tranquility of the park’s pond just steps away. A playground area for children borders the second pavilion where guests can engage in lively board and card games.
Numerous grills will be available for bar-b-que aficionados to show off culinary skills, and event sponsors will be featured in the main gathering spot to engage with attendees. The third pavilion will provide guests with the opportunity to meet community partners focused on providing mentorship and health and wellness resources.

The Gwinnett County Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) was officially “approved and duly certified” on June 13, 2019. Its mission is to encourage and enable women of African descent in Gwinnett County to reach their fullest potential, so they are equipped to succeed in every aspect of their lives. The Black Family Reunion will be an annual signature event with the mission to build and strengthen the black families within Gwinnett County.
