UPDATE: DeKalb County Police have arrested the child’s father, 23-year-old Artavious North and charged him with making False Statements and False Report of a Crime. North was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 17.
Investigators said there was no armed robbery or kidnapping in DeKalb County. The location of 2-year-old J’asiah Mitchell is still unknown. At this time, the East Point Police Department will be the lead investigating agency, the DeKalb County Police Department stated. All future inquires should be directed to their department.

The DeKalb County Police Department is investigating a report of a missing child. Two-Year-old J’Asiah Mitchell (name correction) was reportedly kidnapped early this morning. The Homicide Assault Unit (HAU) is actively working this case to identify possible witnesses and is seeking the public’s help in locating J’Asiah Mitchell. DEKALB COUNTY, GA—The DeKalb County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating
2-year-old Josiah Mitchell, who was kidnapped Wednesday (Aug. 16) t around 11:23 p.m.
Authorities issued this statement today(Aug.17):
We have been urgently working to identify the circumstances leading up to the kidnapping however we need the communities help finding Josiah.”
Police are asking anyone who has seen him to call 911 or 770-724-7850.
Authorities said they would be providing updates as soon as possible.
