ATLANTA – State Rep. Angela Moore (D-Stonecrest) recently participated in the International Youth Fellowship’s (IYF) 2023 Mind Education Workshop in Dallas, hosted by the Rev. Ock Soo Park of Seoul South Korea. Park is founder of more than 50 churches in the U.S. and more than 146 churches, schools and cultural arts groups around the world.
After learning of the number of children in her community who are suffering from depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism, Rep. Moore wanted to further her education on the subject and accepted the invitation to attend the summit.
“I was shocked when I stepped onto the stage and looked out to see thousands of people seated in their chairs,” said Rep. Moore. “Not one for having stage fright, all I could say was, ‘Merry Christmas,’ and I immediately understood the importance of not only the Christian holiday, but the occasion. It was my first time ever leaving my family on this sacred day, but I had the special opportunity to make more than 5,000 new friends.”
The Mind Education curriculum and workshop takes a holistic approach and addresses emotions and feelings and also seeks to empower individuals to explore the depths of their hearts and identify the underlying influences that shape their thoughts.
The Mind Education curriculum for adults provides guidance for leadership and navigation in the workplace, familial relationships and gives tools to mentor younger generations. Mind Education for correctional facilities aims to guide those who are at risk of recidivism to reintegrate into society and become a contributor to their communities. For students, Mind Education strives to provide perspective and encouragement for students to regularly contemplate the consequences of their decisions and make meaningful, life-changing connections with their loved ones. Furthermore, through stories and presentations, Mind Education introduces young children to the principles of self-control, deep thinking and communication in a way that is relatable and easy to understand. For more information on The Mind Education Workshop, please click here.
