ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–Incumbent Oz Nesbitt, Sr., who will face JaNice VanNess in the June 18 runoff for Chairman of the Rockdale Board of Commissioners, submitted the following letter to On Common Ground News:
The Importance of Integrity in Political Representation
I am writing today to express my disappointment in the recent actions of JaNice Van Ness, who has switched political parties solely for personal gain. As a concerned citizen, I believe it is crucial to uphold integrity and honesty in our political system.
It is disheartening to see a candidate manipulate their party affiliation to win an election, with plans to switch back once in office. This opportunistic behavior undermines the trust of the electorate and devalues the democratic process.
We must hold our elected officials to higher standard, one that prioritizes principles over political expediency. Candidates like Oz Nesbitt, Richard Oden, Brian Jenkins, and James Sendelbach who have shown unwavering dedication to their party and constituents, exemplify the integrity necessary for effective leadership.
As we approach the upcoming election, let us remember the importance of authenticity and genuine representation. Voters deserve candidates who stand by their beliefs and values, not those who use deception to attain power.
It is time to reaffirm our commitment to a fair and transparent electoral system that upholds the ideals of democracy. We must reject opportunism and prioritize integrity in our political leaders to ensure a truly representative government.
Let us choose candidates who embody the principles we hold dear, rather than those who seek to exploit the system for personal gain. Together, we can uphold the integrity of our democracy and build a better future for all.
The local and state Democratic Party should seek every remedy to remove JaNice Van Ness from the democratic run-off ballot June 18, 2024. She has demonstrated through her Republican Party affiliation as an elected official and as a life long republican she is not a democrat and is not committed to upholding democratic values.
