ATLANTA– DeKalb County CEO-Elect Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will be the special guest on “The Amen Corner” this Friday, June 21, on WIGO-1570 AM. The talk show, hosted by Amos King, starts at 9 a.m.
Cochran-Johnson, DeKalb’s former Super District 7 commissioner, was elected in a historic runoff on June 18, becoming DeKalb’s first African-American woman, and the second woman ever in the county’s history to hold the title of DeKalb County CEO—DeKalb’s top leadership position.
Cochran-Johnson, who will be sworn into office in January, says she has received an outpouring of support and well wishes since the victorious runoff election, including a call from U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, the first woman, first Black American and the nation’s first South Asian American elected to the position.
Cochran-Johnson earned 60% of the vote in the heated match with Larry Johnson, who served 22 years as DeKalb’s District 3 commissioner. Larry Johnson received 40 percent in the race.
“We’re excited to have DeKalb’s next CEO, Lorraine Cochran Johnson, on the show. We’re going to hear her plans for DeKalb County’s future. We’re looking forward to discussing her vision and anything else that she wants to discuss,” said King.
