ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–BioLab has reopened its operations in Conyers, after being shut down since Sept. 29 following a chemical explosion. The company said in a statement that its distribution center reopened on Nov. 4 and has resumed fulfilling orders for finished products used to clean pools and spas. The facility, however, has not resumed manufacturing cleaning chemicals at the site, the company stated.
“BioLab’s Distribution Center at Conyers was cleared by relevant authorities and regulators to reopen on November 4 and resume fulfilling customer orders for finished products, which are used to clean pools and spas. We are grateful that our Conyers team members have returned to work at the Distribution Center and appreciate their continued support and dedication. At this time, the Conyers plant has not resumed manufacturing operations, and any resumption of operations will only be undertaken with approval from authorities and regulators,“ company officials stated.
BioLab also emphasized its commitment to understanding the causes of the chemical fire, saying that in addition to conducting its own comprehensive review, it is closely working with the U.S. Chemical Safety Board as well as state and federal environmental officials.
In addition to its cleanup efforts at the Conyers site, BioLab said it has expanded its support for local residents and business owners. As of Nov. 7, the company has received more than 15,700 calls, assisting the community with claims, reimbursement requests, and other needs through its 24/7 community call center. BioLab said it also has provided direct support to more than 3,000 individuals through its call center and cleared debris from the chemical fire through its removal service at more than 30 private properties as well as public areas.
BioLab announced on today(Nov. 11) that due to Daylight Saving Time and the approaching holiday season, it has changed its hours of on-site operation at its community assistance center. The community assistance center will be closed for appointments Nov. 25-30 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
While claims staff will not be on site that week, claim review will continue during that time by phone and email for those who have previously established claims. Residents and business owners may still email BioLabClaims@biolabinc.com to file a claim. Information on how to do so is available here. Due to Daylight Saving Time, effective Monday, Dec. 2, the Center’s hours going forward will be:
- Monday-Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (one hour earlier)
- Saturday: 9 a.m. -3 p.m. (ET) (unchanged)
- Sunday: Closed (unchanged)
