ATLANTA—U.S. Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock(D-GA) is inviting Georgians to join a virtual town hall on Tuesday, March 11, at 6 p.m. EST. The event will be streamed live on X/Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram, allowing constituents to engage directly with the senator.
In a statement, Warnock emphasized the importance of hearing from those he represents, saying he wants to hear “directly from you about the challenges you and your community are facing.”
The town hall also will provide an opportunity for Warnock to discuss key issues impacting Georgians.
Warnock has been vocal in opposing drastic federal workforce reductions proposed by the Trump Administration’s newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The department recently announced plans to close five Georgia Social Security Administration (SSA) offices—the highest number of closures in any state, according to Warnock. The offices slated for closure are in Brunswick, Columbus, Gainesville, Thomasville and Vidalia. The closures are intended to save the federal government approximately $1.3 million per year in leases, but Warnock says they will disproportionately harm seniors in rural communities.
A member of the Senate Aging Committee, Warnock condemned the shutdowns:
“This will make it harder for seniors, especially in rural GA, to enroll, solve payment issues, and report fraud. I will do everything I can to fight this reckless action and remain focused on getting our seniors the benefits they paid for & rely on.”
A longtime champion for military veterans, Warnock recently helped to introduce the Coast Guard Combat-Injured Tax Fairness Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at returning improperly withheld taxes to combat-injured U.S. Coast Guard veterans .
Since taking office in 2021, Warnock has made it his mission to protect democracy, fight for affordable housing, lower costs for groceries and health care, and support military members and veterans. He reiterated his commitment to listening to constituents’ concerns:
“…I hope you will take time to join me as we discuss the future of our great state. I’m focused on your needs and your challenges, which is why I’m looking forward to hearing from you.”
Those who want to submit a question or share a concern at the virtual town hall can sign up at Warnock’s website, Questions can also be submitted through commenting on social media live streams.
