GWINNETT COUNTY, GA–The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners has adopted six small area plans as amendments to the County’s 2045 Unified Plan.
Approved during the board’s July 22 meeting, the plans focus on Bethesda, Centerville, Killian Hill, Northbrook Parkway, Oakbrook Parkway and Venture Drive. Each was developed in partnership with community input and includes recommendations for land use, housing, economic development, mobility and open space tailored to reflect the unique needs and vision of the communities.
“These plans reflect what we heard directly from the people who live, work, and do business in these communities,” said Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “They help us take a proactive approach to growth while honoring the character and needs of each area.”
Planning and Development Director Matt Dickison said the plans are critical tools to shape future investments.
“With input from hundreds of residents and stakeholders, each plan outlines a clear vision and path forward,” said Dickison. “This helps us target resources where they’ll have the most impact.”
The adopted plans now become part of Gwinnett’s long-range strategy for managing growth and development.
According to data in the 2045 Unified Plan, Gwinnett County is projected to grow from 972,662 people in 2020 to a population of 1,511,059 in 2045. Its future housing demand—one of the most critical issues it is facing–is projected to rise from 330,569 in 2020 to 543,069 in 2045.
