ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA–Rockdale County is accepting applications for its 2026 Citizens’ Government Academy, a free, eight-week program designed to provide residents with an insider’s perspective on local government operations.
The program runs Jan. 12 through March 16, 2026 and is limited to 25 participants. The goal is to help foster greater community involvement by educating residents about the inner workings of county operations and highlighting meaningful ways to engage with local government.
“This academy represents our commitment to transparency and civic engagement,” said Rockdale Board of Commissioners’ Chairwoman JaNice Van Ness. “We want our residents to understand how their local government works for them and how they can play an active role in shaping our community’s future.”
Program Details:
- Duration:Eight weeks
- Schedule:Monday evenings, 6 – 8 p.m.
- Dates:Jan. 12 – March 16, 2026
- Capacity:Limited to 25 participants
- Eligibility:Rockdale County residents aged 18 and older
- Commitment:Participants must attend all eight sessions to graduate
During the program, participants will explore various county departments, learn about municipal services, discuss community challenges, and discover opportunities for civic involvement. The academy provides a unique opportunity for residents to connect directly with county leaders and staff while building relationships with fellow community members.
