ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA – Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) will host its Christmas tree recycling initiative, “Bring One for the Chipper,” providing Rockdale residents with an environmentally responsible way to recycle live Christmas trees after the holiday season.
The Rockdale Recycling Center will be open from Saturday, Jan. 3-10, 2026,, 9: a.m. to 1 p.m.. Rockdale residents are encouraged to bring their live, undecorated Christmas trees to be recycled and diverted from landfills.
To celebrate the kickoff event on Jan. 3, the first 50 Rockdale residents who pre-register and drop off a tree that day will receive a free tree seedling, generously provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission, while supplies last. Available seedlings may include White Oak, Bald Cypress, and Catalpa.
How to Register:
Residents must email kcrb@rockdalecountyga.gov to pre-register. Registration emails should include the
participant’s full name, phone number, and preferred tree seedling species. Seedling requests will be honored in the order received and are subject to availability. The initiative is open to Rockdale County residents only. The January 3 kickoff event and seedling distribution will be provided weather permitting. Any weather-related updates will be communicated through KCRB’s official channels.
All trees must be free of decorations, tinsel, lights, nails, and tree stands. Trees collected through the initiativewill be chipped and recycled for beneficial reuse.
