DeKalb County warming centers to open Jan. 14-16, freezing temperatures expected

DECATUR,GA– Due to forecasted freezing temperatures and hazardous wind chills, DeKalb County will activate warming centers beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, continuing through Friday, Jan. 16, 2026:

 The following sites will be open for those in need:

• Exchange Park Intergenerational Center, 2771 Columbia Drive, Decatur
• Frontline Response International, 2585 Gresham Road SE, Atlanta
• St. Vincent de Paul, 2050-C Chamblee Tucker Road, Chamblee
• Mason Mill Recreation Center, 1340 McConnell Drive, Decatur

The following locations will be open on January 15 – January 16 (Thursday and  Friday) for the 24-hour activation:

• Frontline Response International, 2585 Gresham Road SE, Atlanta
• Exchange Park Intergenerational Center, 2771 Columbia Drive, Decatur

All transportation routes originate from Frontline Response Headquarters (2585 Gresham Rd SE, Atlanta) and are scheduled for initial pickups to be completed by 7:30 p.m. Following the initial routes, final sweeps will continue from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m., ending promptly at 10 p.m.

During warming center activation, transportation pickups will be available to Frontline International according to the following schedule:

Route 2 – Central / Decatur / Emory

Route 3 – East / Stone Mountain / Candler

Route 4 – South Central / Memorial Drive / Wesley Chapel

• Memorial Drive & Columbia Drive Intersection, Decatur 6:10 p.m.

  • QT on Wesley Chapel / Snapfinger Road – 4075 Wesley Chapel Road, Decatur, 6:45 p.m.

Frontline Response International is contracted by DeKalb County to serve individuals in need during extreme weather conditions. Individuals may arrive directly at Frontline HQ beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday for assistance with warming center placement and additional services.
