LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – A Gwinnett jury found a Gangster Disciple member guilty of shooting and a man he believed stole a gun from a fellow gang member.
Dametris Dameon Bush, 34, was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful criminal gang activity, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in the June 2025 shooting death of 29-year-old Andre Sharron Jones, Jr.
Bush was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 40 years on Feb. 9.
“There is no place for violent gang activity in our communities,” Gwinnett District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said. “We are grateful to the jury for reaffirming our commitment to end gang violence in the Gwinnett Judicial District, and we hope that these verdicts and this sentence provide justice to Mr. Jones’ family and loved ones.”
On the evening of June 17, 2025, Bush went with two other gang members to the Horizon Inn in Norcross to ambush Jones. The evidence showed Bush on camera shooting Jones twice, striking him once in the chest and hitting an innocent bystander in the leg.

Bush and another defendant fled the immediate area of the hotel on foot and got into a car waiting nearby to leave the scene. Investigators learned that the incident was the result of accusations of a stolen gun. The theft was considered an act of disrespect, and Bush was enlisted to confront Jones. Witnesses testified to seeing Bush scouting the hotel in Gangster Disciple colors during daylight hours preceding the night of the shooting.
Drug and Gang Taskforce Managing Assistant District Attorney Ryan Smith and Assistant District Attorney Roderick Burnette prosecuted the case with assistance from DGTF Investigators Kevin Williams Doug Loomis and Victim Witness Advocate Wonsiah Kermah. The Gwinnett County Police Department and Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office also provided invaluable support in closing the case.
