GWINNETT COUNTY, GA–Libraries on wheels will visit more than 100 community stops through July. Gwinnett County Public Schools’ (GCPS) Library Media Services Department is expanding access to reading all summer long through its popular Book Mobile Program, delivering books directly to students in neighborhoods across Gwinnett County.
Starting on Friday, May 29, GCPS Book Mobiles “Pow” and “Explore” will hit the road, followed by the “Quest” van on Tuesday, June 2. Together, these mobile libraries will travel to 103 community stops throughout the summer, helping students who may not have easy access to a public library continue reading while school is out.
The book mobiles will serve neighborhoods in the Berkmar, Central Gwinnett, Discovery, Meadowcreek, and Norcross clusters, offering a wide selection of books for Pre‑K through 12th grade students. Students are invited to climb aboard, browse, and check out books to enjoy at home.
The weekly schedule will repeat each week through Friday, July 17:
Book Mobiles (Pow & Explore):
Monday–Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Quest Van:
Tuesday–Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Please note: The Book Mobiles will not operate on June 19 or July 3.
In addition to books, students can enjoy nutritious food options during select weeks of the program. From June 8 through June 26, the GCPS School Nutrition Program will offer meals for children visiting the Pow and Explore Book Mobiles at the first four stops each day, Monday through Friday. Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta will also provide snacks at every stop, every day, helping ensure students have fuel for both reading and play.

“The Book Mobile Program removes barriers and brings reading opportunities directly to our students,” says Library Media Services Coordinator Traci Costilow. “By combining access to books with meals and snacks, we’re supporting both learning and well‑being during the summer months.”
The GCPS Book Mobile Program is part of the district’s ongoing commitment to literacy, equity, and community engagement.
