Rockdale County firefighter Juan Smith, 26, will be laid to rest on June 26

Rockdale County Firefighter Juan Smith will be laid to rest on Friday, June 26. Firefighter Smith, 26, was killed in the line of duty in a rollover crash.  The firetruck he was in was on its way to a reported blaze when the driver took a hard left off of Sigman Road on to Eastview Road near the BP gas station, causing the truck to overturn on its side, according to the Georgia Highway Patrol. 

Roadside memorials from those who knew, and loved Firefighter Smith have been placed at the site of the crash. 

Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 25, from noon until 8 p.m., at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1879 Glenwood Ave. S.E., Atlanta. 

The celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 26, at 11 a.m., at Springfield Baptist Church, 1877 Iris Drive, S.E. Conyers.
