Gwinnett County: Child therapist found guilty of sexually assaulting 15-year-old over two years

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – A 52-year-old child mental health therapist has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a teen girl over the course of two years. He  is now awaiting sentence, the Gwinnett County District Attorney said. 

A Gwinnett County jury found Gregory Leon Frazier guilty on two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation, statutory rape, and aggravated sexual battery. 

“Sexual abuse is a crime and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson. “This defendant was a child mental health practitioner, and it is egregious that he took advantage of a child’s vulnerability.”

The defendant is a former child therapist. He met the teen – who was not a client – in 2021 when she was 15. Over the course of two years, the defendant sexually abused her more than 50 times, according to her testimony. The jury learned that the defendant injured the girl’s genitals with a massage gun., among other forms of assault.

During trial, Frazier testified did have sex with the girl, but that he was more of a “father figure” than anything. He told jurors he didn’t want to be another man that rejected the girl. The jury also heard testimony from a second unrelated victim of the defendant with similar experiences.

Special Victims Unit Assistant District Attorney Scott Estes and law school intern Joseph King prosecuted the case with assistance from SVU Investigator Chrisina Newman and Victim Advocate Rocio Pineda. The Gwinnett County Police Department was invaluable in closing the case.
