Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful accepting registrations for 2026 Rivers Alive cleanups

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA– Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) is inviting residents, families, community organizations, businesses, and volunteers of all ages to make a splash for Rockdale County during the 2026 Rivers Alive cleanup season. 

Rivers Alive is Georgia’s annual volunteer waterway cleanup program, bringing communities together to remove litter and debris from rivers, streams, lakes, and other waterways. This year, KCRB will host two cleanup opportunities in Rockdale County, giving volunteers the opportunity to help protect local waterways and the natural resources that make our community special. Participants are encouraged to register ahead of the events. 

2026 Rivers Alive Cleanup Dates: 

Saturday, Oct. 17, Black Shoals Park
3001 Black Shoals Road NE , 9 a.m. – Noon

Saturday, Nov. 7, Lake Rockaway
2500 Lake Rockaway Road NW, 9 a.m. – Noon

“Protecting our waterways starts with each of us,” said Rockdale Board of Commissioner Tuwanya Smith, Executive Director of the Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful Advisory Council. “Rivers Alive gives our community an opportunity to come together, take action, and leave our waterways better than we found them. Every bag collected represents a meaningful step toward a cleaner, healthier Rockdale County.”

Volunteers are encouraged to bring outdoor clothing and waterproof boots appropriate for working around waterways. Cleanup supplies will be provided, and T-shirts will be available while supplies last. Lunch will be provided for volunteers for each event. Volunteers under 18 must participate with an adult. A liability waiver is required for all participants, with a parent or guardian signature required for volunteers under 18.
