DEKALB COUNTY, GA—The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is celebrating positive results on the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) exams for the 2025–2026 school year (SY26), with increases in both student participation and exam performance districtwide.
According to the district’s latest results, the overall number of AP exams taken by DCSD students increased by nearly five percent (4.9%) compared to the 2024–2025 school year. Additionally, the total number of AP exam scores earning a 3 or higher—a benchmark commonly recognized as a passing score—increased by 12%, while the total percentage of exams taken scoring a 3 or higher increased by four percent (4%), year over year.

The district’s results also reflect progress among individual high schools. Fifteen DCSD high schools increased the number of AP exams taken in SY26 compared to the previous school year, while 17 high schools increased their percentage of AP exam scores earning a 3 or higher.
DeKalb Schools’ Superintendent Norman C. Sauce III said these results reflect the dedication of the district’s students, commitment of educators, and the importance of providing rigorous acaacademic opportunities that prepare students for success beyond high school.
“We are encouraged by the growth in both AP exam participation and performance across our district,” said Superintendent Sauce. “As we continue to expand access to challenging coursework and strengthen academic support, we remain focused on ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential and be prepared for college, careers, and life.”
AP courses give high school students the opportunity to engage with college-level material while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and other skills that support postsecondary success.
AP exam results can also help students demonstrate their readiness for college-level work and may qualify them for college credit or advanced placement, depending on the institution’s policies, district officials stated.
DCSD said it will continue to build on its progress by supporting students and educators, encouraging participation in rigorous coursework, and advancing opportunities for academic achievement throughout the district.
