Advance Voting underway, DeKalb VRE offers reminders on what you need to know

DECATUR, GA – As Advance Voting gets underway this week,  DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) is urging voters to prepare before heading to the polls.  Advance Voting in DeKalb is Oct.15 through Nov. 1, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday voting is available Oct. 19 and Oct. 26,  9 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday voting is available Oct. 20 and Oct. 27 demo  12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Know Before You Vote:

1. Registered voters can vote at any DeKalb County Advance Voting site during the Advance Voting period. Locations and hours are listed below. Voters must have a valid photo ID.
2. Weekend voting is available on Oct. 19, Oct. 20, Oct. 26 and Oct. 27.
3. The deadline for requesting an Absentee Ballot is October 25. If you’re planning to vote absentee,request your ballot here. Once received, fill it out promptly and return the ballot via a DeKalb County drop box, or at any Advance Voting location without a drop box. You can also return it by mail (if time allows), or by hand-delivering it to DeKalb VRE, located at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur, GA  30030.
4. Absentee ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, Election Day.
5. Absentee ballots may be returned by the following:

• The voter personally
• Family member (the voter’s mother, father, grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, spouse, son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law)
• Individuals residing in voter’s household
• Caregiver of a disabled voter
• Employee of the jail where elector is in custody
• 6 Drop boxes are located at select Advance Voting locations and voters may return their absentee ballot to any Advance Voting site during Advance Voting hours only. Locations with a drop box are notated with an asterisk on the list below.
• 7 Voters are encouraged to verify their polling place at https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/.

“Our staff and poll workers are ready to welcome DeKalb County voters to the polls with the start of Advance Voting,” said Keisha Smith, Executive Director of DeKalb VRE. “We’re anticipating large turnouts and encourage all eligible voters to make a plan to vote – whether that’s absentee, Advance Voting, or on Election Day.”
