Atlanta-DeKalb voters urged to arrive at precincts by 7 p.m. on Election Day

DEKALB COUNTY, GA—DeKalb County residents who reside within the boundaries of the City of Atlanta are urged to cast their ballots on Election Day, Nov. 2, by 7 p.m. to avoid having to vote by a provisional ballot. The polling precincts in DeKalb will be open 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

While precincts within Atlanta-DeKalb officially close at 8 p.m., these 13 polling locations would require voters who arrive to the polling locations after 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 to cast a provisional ballot, as opposed to voting on a touchscreen ballot machine.

“We are reminding voters that most DeKalb County precincts close at 7 p.m., except for those in the City of Atlanta. However, the Atlanta precincts that stay open until 8 p.m. will only offer provisional ballots after 7 p.m. and for the Atlanta municipal races only,” said DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections Interim Director Twyla Hart. “We urge all impacted voters to make a plan to arrive at our polling locations before the designated closing time.”

Because DeKalb County does not meet the population requirement to have expanded voting hours to 8 p.m., City of Atlanta-DeKalb County voters are only able to vote for the City of Atlanta races after 7 p.m. via provisional ballot.

All absentee ballots must be returned to the DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day. Additional drop box locations are available throughout the advance voting period which concludes on Oct. 29. Visit DeKalbVotes.com for additional details.
