Atlanta Public Schools (APS) released the following statement: “Due to the logistical challenges associated with the anticipated traffic, road closures and crowds expected throughout metro Atlanta for the celebrations honoring our World Series Champion Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Public Schools will observe a district holiday and be closed on Friday, Nov. 5. APS wants to ensure that all students and staff are safe during this time. This is a non-school day for students and will be a paid holiday for all full-time APS employees. The DeKalb County School District issued the following statement: “DeKalb County School District (DCSD) congratulates the Atlanta Braves on winning the 2021 World Series title! We are excited to have another professional sports championship in metro Atlanta. All DCSD schools and centers will be closed on Friday, November 5, 2021, to help the Braves celebrate its World Series victory during the championship parade. We look forward to joining all Braves fans in celebrating this historic victory! There will be no makeup day or remote learning/remote work expectations for students and employees.”

The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST) referendum was passed by DeKalb County voters with an 81 percent (81%) vote of approval. The E-SPLOST will impose a one percent sales and use tax on goods and services purchased in DeKalb County for the next five years. This E-SPLOST is a continuation for DCSD. E-SPLOST V fund collection goes from July 2017 until June 2022. E-SPLOST VI collection is scheduled to be levied from July 2022 until June 2027.
