The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will offer free residential bulky item curbside collection from Nov. 22 through Dec. 21. Residents within the Sanitation Division’s service area will have an opportunity to place bulky items, including furniture and large appliances, curbside for collection. Collection schedules will be based on residents’ designated sanitation service day as follows: • Residential customers whose regularly scheduled sanitation service day is Monday will be serviced on Friday, Nov. 22, or Saturday, Nov. 23. To prevent collection delays, items should be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22. • Residential customers whose regularly scheduled sanitation service…

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people who died in the single-engine plane crash into some townhomes near Chamblee on Oct. 30. Leslie Csanyi, Jr., 59, and Scott Robert Lowrie, 60, both residents of North Carolina, were aboard the plane when it took off around 10:30 a.m. from the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, authorities said. The small plane, identified as a Piper PA-28, crashed shortly after leaving Runway 21, the FAA said. Stonecrest Mayor Jason Lary announced at the Oct. 28 City Council meeting that the city is buying the former Sam’s Club near The Mall at Stonecrest. Lary, flanked by City Council members George Turner, Rob Turner, Jimmy Clanton and Jazzmin Cobble, unveiled a rendering of the building that will become the new Stonecrest City Center, home of the future City Hall. The women were captured on video surveillance shoplifting on Oct. 17.
