ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA—Biolab, Inc. announced that it will continue operating its Conyers Distribution Center in Rockdale but will no longer manufacture pool and spa chemicals at the site, On Common Ground News has learned.
BioLab stated it plans to use the Conyers Distribution Center for “finished products” that are manufactured at other facilities, which were not identified. The update also does not address how the finished products would eliminate the possibility for another massive toxic fire such as the one that occurred on Sept. 29, 2024 in Conyers. Debris from the explosion fell on properties in proximity to BioLab including the plaza where On Common Ground News is located on Sigman Road.
BioLab posted the update on its web site on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
BioLab is facing a class action lawsuit and other legal actions alleging negligence and endangering thousands of residents in Rockdale and surrounding areas following the toxic fire and explosion on Sept. 29, 2024. Local officials announced evacuations and shelter-in-place orders during the event.
Below is the update that BioLab posted on May 15, 2025.
“Over the last several months, BioLab has continued to make significant progress on cleaning up the Conyers site and has now completed its remediation of the facility affected by the fire.
At the same time, throughout this period, we have remained unable to resume manufacturing operations in Conyers. After taking steps to meet customer needs through alternative production, and in considering our future business needs carefully, we have made the difficult decision to not restart manufacturing at the Conyers plant.
The Conyers Distribution Center, which was cleared by relevant authorities to reopen in November 2024, will remain operational and will continue to fulfill customer orders for finished products from other manufacturing facilities.
We take our role in Conyers very seriously, and as we move forward, the safety and wellbeing of the Conyers community remain a top priority.”
