Breaking News: Fire at Biolab, Rockdale Sheriff’s Office urges the public to stay out of the area, remain indoors

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA – First responders are at a fire that broke out  this morning (Sept. 29)at Biolab, 1700 Old Covington Hwy, Conyers, leading to the closure of several roads in the area.

Georgia Emergency Management Agency Homeland Security has issued a Shelter In Place  order to minimize exposure to any potential hazards. Residents in the north half of the county should remain inside, Close windows and doors , turn off air-conditioners, the order states.

The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office urges motorists to avoid the area and follow detour signs. Emergency services are responding, and safety measures are in place to protect the public.

Old Covington to Sigman Rd.

Covington to 2nd St.

Lester Rd to Sigman Rd.

Farmer Rd from Sigman. Rd to Rockdale Industrial Rockbridge from Sigman Rd. to Main

JP Carr Community Center, 981 Taylor St., Conyers has been established as an evacuation site for those who have been affected.
