The City of Stonecrest Department of Parks and Recreation is developing its very first Parks and Recreation Master Plan and will host a public forum on Nov. 14, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Browns Mill Recreation Center, 5101 Brown Mill Road.
The city wants to hear from residents, business owners, special interest groups and any other interested parties. Community stakeholders are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting.
Sean DePalma, director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Stonecrest, said the Parks and Recreation Master Plan will examine the existing parks, recreational facilities, programs, and services, and determine the current and future level of development and services for the community based on public input. The plan will prioritize the needs and desires for upgrading and improving existing parks, recreational facilities, amenities, programs, and services as well as developing and mapping future parks and facilities.
“The City of Stonecrest has hired GreenPlay, LLC, a nationally-known parks and recreation management consulting firm to oversee the plan,” said DePalma. “ The GreenPlay team consists of a renowned group of local consultants, including Cooper Carry – Master Planning, Contente Consulting – Public Engagement, and RRC – Citizen Opinion Polling.”
In addition to the public forum, a needs assessment survey will be conducted Nov. 12-14. The results will be utilized to determine the priorities for the city’s recreational facilities and activities desired by our residents, what funding sources may be available, identify potential partnerships and how best to support the recreational needs of the community.
