CONYERS, GA– Conyers will host its annual Arbor Day celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Big Haynes Creek Nature Center.
Mayor Connie Alsobrook, Conyers City Council members and city staff will take part in the event that honors the city’s decades-long recognition as a Tree City USA community.
The celebration will feature family-friendly activities and educational opportunities, including:
- Free native tree saplings provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission
- Gardening and wildlife habitat tips from Rockdale County Master Gardeners
- A ceremonial tree planting in recognition of Arbor Day
- The kickoff of the Fourth Annual “Treasures in the Trees” Scavenger Hunt, where participants can join a walk led by Rockdale County Master Gardeners to search for decorative cherry blossoms hidden along the nature center trails.
Participants who discover a cherry blossom marker can redeem it for a unique handcrafted keepsake at the 2026 Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival, a springtime celebration taking place March 21-22.
Participants can also stop by the Georgia International Horse Park Administration Office to receive a
free festival parking pass.
“Arbor Day is a wonderful opportunity to educate our community about the importance of trees and environmental stewardship,” said Dawn Tanner, Conservation and festival manager at the Georgia International Horse Park. “The Pollinator Education Garden provides the perfect backdrop to learn how we can
support nature, and the scavenger hunt adds a fun and engaging way to get out on the trails and build excitement for the Cherry Blossom Festival.”
