CONYERS, GA— Conyers City Council is moving to a new meeting format beginning in February 2026 and will be introducing work sessions as part of its meeting schedule once a month.
The city council will hold a work session on the first Wednesday of the month at 6
p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers. Work sessions will offer the mayor and all
council members the opportunity to weigh in and collaboratively discuss various
topics or projects prior to being introduced at the regular city council meeting,
which will occur on the third Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the same
location.
Work sessions and council meetings are open to the public and will be
livestreamed on the city’s website, conyersga.com. Allotted time for citizen
comments will continue to be part of work session and council meeting agendas.
If the mayor and council need to conduct time-sensitive business, then they may
adjourn the work session and convene a council meeting on the first Wednesday
of the month. That intention, however, would be clearly advertised prior to a work
session and would then be considered a special called meeting.
“The introduction of work sessions to the city council’s meeting schedule is a
result of discussion with staff at the annual retreat and a request for additional
transparency,” said City Manager Kameron Kelley. “Our intention is to always be
open and transparent with the citizens we serve and a work session format
allows citizens to hear firsthand discussion, questions asked of staff, and
deliberation among council members about important items coming before them
for consideration.”
Work sessions may be canceled if there are no agenda items.
Agendas are available to citizens prior to the meetings on the city website at
https://www.conyersga.com/government/city-government/council-agendas-and-
minutes or by requesting them via City Clerk Nicole Holsomback at
nicole.holsomback@conyersga.gov.
