DECATUR, GA—DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson was recently reappointed to serve as National Association of Counties (NACo) Board Representative on the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG or Georgia’s County Association) Board of Managers.
Gov. Brian Kemp swore in the 2023-2024 Board of Managers during a luncheon at the ACCG Annual Conference at the Savannah Convention Center in Chatham County. “Elected by their peers each spring, the ACCG Board of Managers is a group of dynamic leaders that serve as decisionmakers on behalf of our organization,” said Executive Director Dave Wills. “I would like to congratulate our newly installed Board and look forward to working alongside them to continue the work of advancing Georgia’s counties.”
Commissioner Johnson’s leadership is exemplified in many ways. He became the immediate past president of NACo last July, after successfully serving his term as NACo’s President from July 2021 to July 2022. During his presidency, Commissioner Johnson focused his presidential initiatives on making sure that counties T.H.R.I.V.E. (Technology, Health, Readiness, Infrastructure, Vulnerable populations, and Economic opportunities) by uplifting examples of county perseverance and problem-solving through the COVID-19 pandemic and finding innovative use of federal funds and local partnerships to improve outcomes for all residents. He has held numerous other leadership capacities with NACo from 2005 to the present.
“I am honored to continue to serve with my fellow colleagues to do what is best for the people” said Commissioner Johnson. “I do not take this responsibility lightly and am glad to be a voice for the people that I serve every day.” Commissioner Johnson continues to serve in various roles of government at the local, state, and national level.
