DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office arrests armed robbery suspect after standoff

DECATUR, GA –– Following a brief standoff on Wednesday, Feb. 21, with multiple law enforcement agencies, an Atlanta man surrendered and was taken into custody by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect is accused of pointing a gun at his domestic partner and robbing her while in the presence of minor children.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Field Operations, with South Metro SWAT, arrested Anthony DeVaughn Edwards, 29, at an Oakley Industrial Boulevard apartment building in Fairburn, Georgia.

According to arrest warrants, Edwards took a cell phone and apartment keys at gunpoint from the mother of his child during a dispute on Feb. 11 at a Robin Street residence in Decatur. Edwards is charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault with Intent to Rob, Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree and Criminal Trespass.

Edwards was transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
