DECATUR, GA – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit with the U.S. Marshals Office has made a third arrest in the murder of a Lithonia man last year during an alleged home invasion attempt.
Investigators located 26-year-old Stephan Jamel Stewart on April 17, 2024 and took him into custody without incident. A Grand Jury Arrest Warrant charges Stewart with Murder, Aggravated Assault, Burglary in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon or First Offender Probationer.
According to warrants, Stewart was involved in a shootout with several people at Parc Lorraine apartment complex in Lithonia on March 16, 2023 that resulted in the death of 30 year-old Michael McBride.
Today, two other suspects remain in custody without bond at the DeKalb County Jail from earlier arrests related to the same incident. Atlanta residents Alphonson Pitts, 33, and Deon Davis, 37, were arrested on DeKalb County warrants in March 2024 and November 2023, respectively. They are both charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault after allegedly firing weapons in the parking lot and attempting to enter an apartment by kicking down the front door.
Stewart was transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
