DEKALB COUNTY, GA –Murder suspect Nicholas Demetrius Earl, who has been on the run since June, was captured on Tuesday, Oct. 17 . Earl was taken into custody without incident in Douglasville, GA, after a four-day manhunt where he was spotted but escaped by running into a wooded area in Stone Mountain. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, U.S. Marshals and Georgia State Patrol worked together on the case.
Earl is currently being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.
Sheriff’s deputies had responded to the area of Juliette Road in Stone Mountain on Oct. 13 around 3 p.m. in search of Earl, authorities said. Earl fired at the deputies before fleeing into a wooded area and could not be found. The community had remained on high alert as a joint task force worked to find Earl.
Earl was wanted in connection with the death of Timberre Mims, a 34-year-old woman, who was found shot to death at an apartment complex in Stone Mountain on June 22, 2023.
In addition to the murder charge, Earl now faces several additional charges, including:
Two counts of Aggravated Assault upon a public safety officer: These charges stem from Oct. 13, 2023, during which Earl fired at the vehicle of a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy in pursuit of him.
Probation Violation: This violation is related to an armed robbery charge.

She also extended her sympathies to the family of Timberre Mims and assures the community that the Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring justice is served.
