DECATUR, GA—Fugitive Jayson Coleman and three other men being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail on drug trafficking charges after trying to flee during a raid, authorities said on Feb. 2.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, along with the U.S. Marshals, Fulton County’s SWAT and the Georgia State Patrol Crime Suppression Unit arrested the four men and seized a large quantity of drugs, firearms and cash at a home located at 1491 Austin Drive in Decatur.
Coleman, who was wanted for aggravated assault and reckless conduct, was arrested on warrants and charged with drug trafficking. During the operation, deputies seized approximately 96 pounds of marijuana, 21 bottles of promethazine, four firearms, and an undisclosed amount of cash. Ace Benton, Halvonte Walker, and Miguel Coggins also were arrested on drug trafficking charges. All four individuals attempted to flee but were taken into custody and transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where they are being held without bond, authorities said.
As a result of the investigation, Coleman faces additional charges of trafficking in marijuana and V.G.C.S.A. possession of a schedule V controlled substance. Benton is charged with
possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and trafficking in marijuana. Walker is charged with V.G.S.C.A. possession of methamphetamine and trafficking in marijuana.
Coggins is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Taking these individuals, substances, and weapons off the streets helps make DeKalb County safer for our families and communities, and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to hold offenders accountable,” Sheriff Melody M. Maddox stated.
