GWINNETT COUNTY, GA–Gwinnett County Police detectives have arrested Khaden Williams, 18, of DeKalb County and charged him in connection with a shooting that left a 15-year-old male injured outside the Mall of Georgia in Buford.
The victim is being treated at a local hospital for injuries and his identity is not being released at this time, authorities said.
The shooting occurred on Saturday, Jan. 4, shortly around 9:30 p.m., after the mall had closed, authorities said. An officer working a security detail at the mall heard gunshots and immediately ran toward the direction where the shots were fired, Gwinnett County Police said. Officers quickly apprehended the suspect who was attempting to flee the scene, police said. The suspect was transported to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters for questioning and subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Detectives are trying to locate any witnesses who may have seen or heard the shooting.
