DEKALB COUNTY, GA– On Tuesday, May 16, DeKalb County Sheriffs’ deputies went to a Lithonia residence to arrest 29-year-old Jaquavieus Deonte King on a Battery Family Violence First Offense warrant.
The arrest was part of a three-day Task Force by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Process Unit to make arrests on Domestic Violence warrants. King’s warrant alleged he punched the victim, who is also the mother of his child, in the face during an argument on April 11, 2023 at their home in Lithonia.
Deputies served the warrant and, while taking King into custody, found 14 other people inside the residence, along with firearms (a Carbon 15 pistol, 9mm handgun, Tomcat 32 auto Beretta and a PAK 9mm Luger), plastic baggies, scales, and a large grocery bag containing marijuana.
As a result, King received additional charges: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. The other 14 individuals were also arrested and charged with non-domestic violence offenses.
In addition to the 14 arrests, the task force made 11 arrests on four felony and seven misdemeanor domestic violence charges. Charges considered to be Family Violence/Domestic Violence include Battery, Assault, Stalking, Criminal Trespass and Cruelty to Children, among others. The Criminal Process Unit also served eight Temporary Protection Orders (TPO).
“Locating and arresting domestic violence offenders presents many dangers for our deputies, yet it is a vital task,” says DeKalb Sheriff Melody Maddox. “Domestic violence offenses are personal, and reactions to arrest can be unpredictable because they involve relationships between domestic partners or within families.” All arrestees were taken into custody without incident and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
