All offices closed May 27 in observance of Memorial Day
DECATUR, GA– As many residents are preparing to travel and kick off summer, DeKalb County Tax Commissioner Irvin J. Johnson is reminding vehicle owners to check their registration before the Memorial Day holiday.
“Ensuring your vehicle registration is current should be on your travel checklist before any road trip, whether it’s local or long distance,” said Tax Commissioner Irvin Johnson. “Driving with an expired car tag, or without a tag, can hamper travel plans and be costly in the long run.”
To avoid delays, taxpayers can go online to renew their vehicle registration, pay insurance fines, check their vehicle title and insurance status, change their vehicle registration address, and more at https://eservices.drives.ga.gov.
Self-service tag renewal kiosks are also available at participating Kroger stores in DeKalb. For kiosk locations, visit https://deKalbtax.org/kiosks.
For walk-in service at the Memorial Drive, Clairmont Road and South DeKalb Mall tax office locations, customers should expect delays before and after holidays. Appointments can be scheduled ahead of time or customers may join the virtual waitlist for same-day service at DeKalbTax.org. All locations will be closed Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen Tuesday, May 28.
As a reminder, a valid Georgia driver’s license with a current DeKalb County address is required to register a vehicle. Individuals moving to Georgia or moving from one county to another have 30 calendar days to register their vehicles. To update your address on your Georgia driver’s license or to find a Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) customer service center, visit https://dds.georgia.gov.
