DEKALB COUNTY GA– The Embry Hills – Presidential Parkway and Surrounding Communities Placemaking Strategy project is hosting its Design Workshop on Feb. 12, at the Mountain West Church – Chamblee Campus (3147 Chamblee Tucker Road) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Residents, business owners, and community stakeholders are invited to take part in a Design Workshop, an interactive community event focused on shaping the future vision for the Embry Hills–Presidential Parkway & Surrounding Communities area.
Hosted by DeKalb County and the Project Team, the Design Workshop will provide participants with a hands-on opportunity to review existing conditions, explore design concepts, and share ideas for improving transportation, land use, public spaces, and overall community character within the study area.
The event will be held at Mountain West Church – Chamblee Campus (3147 Chamblee Tucker Road) on Feb. 12, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The project team will give a brief presentation at 5:45 p.m., and interactive activities will follow the presentation. All members of the public are encouraged to attend.
At the workshop, attendees will be able to:
- Hear a presentation from the project team at 5:45 p.m.
- Participate in feedback activities and interactive exercises
- Share feedback on priorities, challenges, and opportunities
- Help inform recommendations that will shape the final plan
Community members who are unable to attend in person can share their thoughts on the project webpage through an Ideas Wall, which allows residents to leave comments and view comments left by other participants.
The workshop is part of the ongoing Embry Hills–Presidential Parkway & Surrounding Communities Placemaking Strategy, which seeks to strengthen this area’s unique identity through public art and culture. A placemaking strategy guides the development of a place by creating tools and policies to support the vision and goals of the community.
Originally introduced as a framework for community-driven improvements, the Placemaking Strategy has been refreshed to reflect evolving community priorities, new partnerships, and a renewed commitment to inclusive, people-centered design. The relaunch expands the study area and project scope to better reflect community needs and align with the County’s broader vision.
