DECATUR, GA– DeKalb County residents now have another source to obtain at-home COVID-19 test kits for free.
Beginning Monday, May 23, free over-the-counter COVID-19 test kits will be available at all regional health center locations in DeKalb County. No health insurance information or ID checks are required.
The at-home tests or self-tests, are convenient, offer fast results, can be taken anywhere, and work whether or not you have symptoms. The rapid antigen tests give results in just a few minutes. These tests do not need to be returned to a health center or laboratory.
“Testing is an invaluable tool that helps reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities,” said DeKalb District Health Director Sandra J. Valenciano, M.D., M.P.H. “Take a COVID-19 test if you start having symptoms, if you’ve been in close contact with someone with COVID-19, or if you’re going to gather with a group of people and want to make sure you’re not infected to protect others. We’re happy to be able to increase access to this valuable resource, as we continue our efforts against COVID-19.”
To request a free at-home test kit, visit the closest health center location. Household limits apply. Brand specific video tutorials on how to use a test kit can be found by visiting the CDC website. In the event of a positive COVID-19 test or exposure to someone with COVID-19, instructions for isolation (for positive individuals) and quarantine (for exposed individuals) can be found in English and Spanish on the Board of Health’s website, dekalbhealth.net.
