STONECREST, GA—Caden Harris, the 14-year-old entrepreneur who teaches financial literacy to kids from a renovated school bus, learned over the weekend that someone had stolen the generator that powers his classroom on wheels.
“While I was in Washington, DC speaking at the Treasury Department sharing about financial literacy making a global impact, when unfortunately, my dad received a phone call that while I was on stage speaking, my bus had been broken into and my generator which powers the interior workings of the bus was stolen!!!” Caden said in an Instagram post.

City Councilman Terry Fye said he was shocked when he learned about the bus burglary and is stepping up to help Caden replace by donating his council salary for the month.
“It’s so disappointing that something like this could happen to a kid who is out there trying to help other kids,” said Fye.
Fye, who became the newest member of the Stonecrest City Council when he was sworn into office in January 2024, said he has followed Caden’s success as he impacts kids across the metro Atlanta area.
“As a young black man operating in our community, Mr. Harris and his family continue to set a great example for his peers. Now more than ever, we need men like Caden to continue the good work,” Fye said in a post on Facebook, urging others to show support for Caden.
Caden has been teaching financial literacy since he was 11 years old. His parents helped him to convert the 54-passenger school bus, which features a mock bank, mock Stock Exchange and grocery store.
Fye said that he has reached out to the DeKalb County Police Department to help find out who burglarized the bus. Fye said he did not know where the bus was parked or the time that the burglary took place.
Caden and his family could not be reached by On Common Ground News’ deadline tonight (My 1). An email was sent to them. The story will be updated as more information is received.
