The Georgia Department of Transportation is seeking review and feedback for the proposed Miller Road detour alternative technical concept to reconstruct the Miller Road bridge over Interstate I-20. We appreciate your participation in the process.
The project is reconstructing the interstate system-to-system ramps at the I-285/I-20 East Interchange and will add a combination of collector-distributor, also known as connecting lanes, and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange in DeKalb County, Georgia. The project is part of the Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) and includes reconstructing Miller Road over I-20.
A full closure and detour of the Miller Road bridge over I-20 is being proposed for the construction of the new overpass bridge. Replacement of the Miller Road bridge with an offsite detour is anticipated to decrease the construction duration for the new overpass from about 16 months to no longer than 8 months, weather permitting.
On April 10, 2024, the Georgia Department of Transportation will make information about the proposed detour available on the project website at https://0013915-gdot.hub.arcgis.com. This information on the website is provided in addition to an in-person meeting allowing the public to review the proposed project, provide feedback, or submit comments online. The in-person open house is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2024, between 4 and 7 p.m. at Transforming Faith Church, at 5240 Panola Industrial Blvd., Decatur, GA 30035.
