Georgia DOT announces lane closures on I-285/I-20 East Interchange Project

DEKALB COUNTY, GA— Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) construction partners will temporarily close interstate lanes at the locations below for the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. The project will reconstruct the interstate system-to-system ramps at the I-285/I-20 East Interchange and add a combination of collector-distributor, or connecting lanes, and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange.

Beginning Thursday, Sept. 19, 11 p.m., through Friday, Sept. 20, 5 a.m., overnight, traffic will be shifted to the widened left shoulder of the I-20 eastbound to I-285 southbound ramp in time for the Friday morning commuteI-20 eastbound ramp.

  • Monday, September 16, through Friday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Daily)

Single, right-lane and shoulder closure on I-20 eastbound

I-20 from Panola Road (MM 71.3) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5) (Nightly)

  • Sunday, September 15, through Saturday, September 21, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)

Single, right-lane and shoulder closure on I-20 westbound

I-20 eastbound from the I-285 Interchange (MM 67.3) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5)

  • Monday, September 16, through Saturday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Daily)

Single, right-lane and right-shoulder closure on the connecting lanes or collector-distributor (CD) lanes

I-20 from Columbia Drive (MM 66.8) to the I-285 Interchange (MM 67.3) 

  • Monday, September 16, through Saturday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Daily)

Single, right-lane and right-shoulder closure on I-20 eastbound

I-20 from Panola Road (MM 71.3) to the Fairington Road overpass (MM 72.6) 

  • Monday, September 16, through Friday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Daily)

Single, right-lane and right-shoulder closure on I-20 eastbound

Hillandale Drive eastbound from east of Panola Road to DeKalb Medical Parkway

  • Monday, September 16, through Friday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Daily)

I-20 from Panola Road (MM 71.4) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.3)

  • Monday, September 16, through Saturday, September 21, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Alternating, double, left- and right-lane and shoulder closures on I-20 eastbound and westbound

I-20 from the westbound ramp to I-285 northbound (Exit 67B)

  • Monday, September 16, through Saturday, September 21, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)

I-285 southbound exit ramp to the I-20 eastbound ramp

  • Monday, September 16, through Saturday, September 21, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)

Single, left-lane and left-shoulder closure on the connecting lanes

I-20 from the I-285 Interchange (MM 67.3) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.3)

Alternating, double, left- and right-lane closures on I-20 eastbound and westbound

  • Tuesday, September 17, through Thursday, September 19, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. (Daily)

Traffic pacing operation on I-20 westbound, traffic will be held for up to five minutes

I-20 from the I-285 Interchange (67.3) to Miller Road (69.8), including the westbound entrance ramp from Wesley Chapel Road (Exit 68)
