ATLANTA – State Representatives Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) and Sandra G. Scott (D-Rex) will host Homeowners Association (HOA), Condominium Owners Association (COA) and Property Owners Association (POA) Day at the Georgia Capitol on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m., Room 216.
“Homeownership should not come with fear, confusion or unchecked power,” said Rep. Davis. “This day at the Capitol is about elevating the voices of homeowners and ensuring that state law reflects fairness, accountability and transparency.”
The event seeks to bring together homeowners, residents, board members and advocates from across Georgia to raise awareness about ongoing concerns related to homeowner, condominium and property owner associations, including transparency, accountability, due process and escalating assessments.
“Too many constituents contact our offices after they feel powerless in disputes with their associations,” added Rep. Schofield. “This event provides a public forum to highlight those concerns and work toward balanced, common-sense solutions.”
Participants will gather to share lived experiences, engage with elected officials and advocate for legislative reforms that protect homeowners while preserving responsible community governance.
“Strong communities require transparency and trust,” concluded Rep. Scott. “When residents are heard and treated fairly, everyone benefits. This is about restoring that balance.”
The event is open to the public, and legislators encourage attendance from homeowners, HOA/COA/POA board members, housing advocates and concerned citizens to arrive at the Capitol at 9 a.m.
