The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) announced today that it has partnered with Uber to provide discounts on trips that connect to Xpress Park-and-Ride lots throughout metro Atlanta. Under the promotion, Uber will offer a 50% discount on any uberPOOL fare that begins or ends at an Xpress Park-and-Ride during morning and afternoon commuting hours. The promotion will run through May 31, 2017.
“We are excited to partner with Uber to offer this benefit to our Xpress customers and to make transit an even easier option for metro Atlanta commuters who are looking for alternatives to driving,” said Executive Director Chris Tomlinson. “Partnerships such as these are critical in connecting commuters to reliable, safe, and dependable transportation options to get them where they need to go.”
In response to the I-85 bridge collapse, Xpress has made adjustments to service in the impacted corridor and has added additional commuter service directly to MARTA rail stations from park-and-ride lots in Gwinnett and Forsyth Counties. The promotion with Uber is another way that GRTA is working with its transportation partners to provide transportation options until the interstate is reopened.
The discounted rate applies for service to all Xpress Park-and-Ride lots except for Hamilton Mill and Cumming, which do not have uberPOOL availability. The promotion will apply to rides during weekday commuter hours from 5:00 am to 10:00 am and 4 to 8 pm., and the updated pricing has been reflected in the Uber app. Discounts are applied upfront and will not appear on customers’ trip receipts.
