GWINNET COUNTY, GA– Gwinnett County Police detectives have charged a suspect with breaking into a Mercedes Benz car dealership and stealing a car.
Kaderries Johnson, 24, of Duluth, was charged with three counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, three counts of Loitering and Prowling, three counts of misdemeanor Theft by Taking, and one count of Motor Vehicle Theft.
On Dec. 3, Johnson walked around the dealership and attempts to get into the showroom. He walked into the service area and took a bottle of water. An officer found Johnson walking in the parking lot at 2:40 a.m. and warned him he could be arrested for loitering and prowling, not knowing he had been inside the dealership. Detectives believed he was looking for where the key fobs to the cars were kept.
Around 9:30 p.m., Johnson returned to the dealership. He walked around and pulled on a few doors, one of which opened. He was confronted by two employees and left.
On Dec. 4, Johnson came to the dealership again, walked around and was eventually criminally trespassed from the business by Gwinnett Police officers. On Dec. 5, he returned to the dealership after hours of walking around and pulling on doors.
Just before midnight on Dec. 7, Johnson returned to the dealership and entered the business. He stole three key fobs and a 2025 Mercedes Benz GLE350 that was in the parking lot.
On Dec. 9, Gwinnett Police detectives were informed that Warwick Police had impounded the stolen Mercedes from a traffic stop in their jurisdiction. At the time of the traffic stop, the Mercedes had not been entered in as stolen. They told detectives that Kaderries Johnson had been driving the stolen Mercedes but had been released at the scene.
On Dec. 11, Albany Police had located Johnson loitering around a Chrysler car dealership.
Johnson is currently in custody in the Dougherty County jail.
