GWINNETT COUNTY, GA– Gwinnett County Police officers arrested a South Carolina man who was wanted for three counts of attempted murder out of Seneca, S.C.’ s jurisdiction.
Emmanuel Williams, 20, is from Seneca, was accused of shooting three people, one of them a 1-year-old child. It was believed Williams was traveling to Gwinnett County.
On Nov. 27, at approximately 7 p.m., the Gwinnett Police Department was contacted by the Seneca Police Department in reference to Williams.
With intel and Flock cameras, the black sport utility vehicle Williams was believed to have been driving was located at Sugarloaf Parkway and North Brown Road. As the vehicle was exiting a nearby business, an officer got behind William’s vehicle and activated his blue lights to conduct a traffic stop. Williams suddenly crossed all lanes of traffic and started driving recklessly in an attempt to flee from officers. A short vehicle pursuit ensued, reaching speeds of 80 mph.
As Williams approached the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Duluth Highway, officers were waiting for him. As Williams was turning right onto Duluth Highway, an officer attempted a PIT maneuver to stop the pursuit. Due to the of the angle of the vehicles, the officer’s patrol car struck the driver’s side of William’s vehicle, causing him to lose control and stop. Williams was quickly placed under arrest, police said.
Williams was transported to a local hospital to be checked for injuries. He was then taken to the Gwinnett County Jail. Williams was charged with driving without a seatbelt, felony fleeing to elude a police officer, unsafe lane change, obstruction of an officer, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, driving over a gore, speeding, and following too closely.
